Bishop Gruss encourages faithful to pray the Rosary daily during October, month dedicated to the Rosary FROM BISHOP ROBERT GRUSS:
One of the most beautiful and powerful devotions in our Catholic faith is the Rosary. In the Catholic Church, the Rosary is one of the most cherished prayers. For Catholics, it is a powerful prayer of intercession to the Blessed Mother.
Why is praying the Rosary important? In praying the Rosary, our faith is strengthened; it helps us to resist evil; it helps us to grow spiritually, and most importantly it helps deepen our relationship with Mary, our Mother.
The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep us mindful of principal events in the history of our salvation. The mysteries of the Rosary are based on the events in the life of Jesus and His Mother….and praying the Rosary draws us deeper into these mysteries.
The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. We also celebrate the Feast of the Holy Rosary on October 7th.
I invite all of you to join me in praying the Rosary every day during the month of October, asking our Lady to bless our diocese and bring healing to our Church and the world. If this has not been a part of your spiritual practice, this month is a great time to begin a daily Rosary devotion.
Mary will bring us many blessings. Most importantly, she will lead us to Jesus.
